Raffle Draw Postponement / Appeal for Understanding

Dear Colleagues,

It is with much regret to inform you that the car raffle is postponed for December 6, 2014. This tough decision was subjected to much debate during the emergency Executive Board meeting.

We have covered all bases and taken into consideration that most people will be disappointed. After one disaster to another, the great Visayas earthquake and super typhoon Yolanda, happened too close to the intended raffle draw, people chose to help the victims and survivors directly.

In this light, we appeal to your utmost understanding and support to pull this through. The Academy needs everyone to help out for us to be able to continue with our advocacy. The PMA-PARM Rehab Clinic needs to replace its almost-a-decade old equipment and would require expansion in the near future. This clinic provides access to indigent patients the proper physical medicine and rehabilitation care, from Physiatric consult to therapy provided by highly competent and licensed physical therapists. The PARM Mobility Clinic which provides prostheses to those who would like to go back to school or work in order to become productive individuals. The PARM FUND which provides medical assistance, assistive devices, livelihood trainings and sports participation to persons with disabilities (PWDs). This was created specifically for the PWD sector as they are the ones we usually care for in our medical practice and we believe that with proper care, guidance and opportunity, they can become an integral part of the society. The annual PWD celebrations in which PARM is always a part of, among others, the National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation Week, the Cerebral Palsy Awareness and Protection Week and today marks the celebration of the International Day for Persons with Disabilities. These are being done to promote awareness of the needs of the sector and such celebrations require logistics to augment the government budget. The Academy has been a staunch advocate of the rights of persons with disabilities, thus, PARM has been a lead agency to such festivities. It is one more way to show our continuous support to the PWD sector.

We ask if we may return unsold booklets back so you can sell them for another year. We know it may sound too long, but given the circumstances, it is the most logical thing to do.

Again, we ask for your kind understanding. It was never an intention to sell tickets without a grand draw. We certainly did not think these disasters would happen and all efforts and planning we put into this fundraising were swallowed by the earth and washed away to sea. This announcement will be posted in our website, www.eparm.org, the official PARM Facebook page and will be sent to all members via e-mail and text that you can forward to those who bought tickets from you.

Maraming salamat sa inyong pangunawa.
